Isla Taboga

Island of the Flowers

This beautiful small island is located about one hour by ferry off the west coast of Panama City. It is perfect to escape all the noise and rush of the city and just relax a day or two.

As you can probably imagine already by the headline of this page, the island is famous for the huge amount of flowers you can find there. All the smalls paths on the island are lined with colorful orchids, mostly noticable on the main path, which runs parrallel along the beach. The island is a hikers paradise- there are two main trails, one of them leads all the way to the top of the island. On a clear day you will have a good view on Panama City and the Bridge of America.

But even if you don`t take one of those hiking trails, you will have to walk a lot - the paths on this island were not made for cars. You will only find a couple of cars there. Taking long walks along the beaches and enjoying the ocean breeze does not sound too bad, right? If you are up for a bit of history, visit the church of San Pedro, the second-oldest church in Panama. There are also plenty of opportunities to swim, snorkel or scuba dive.

You will find lots of hotels to stay, many of them with an amazing view on the ocean. So all in all, Taboga island is the ideal place to escape and just have a couple of days to relax.
