Bocas del Toro

It is difficult to express in a few words what you can feel when you visit the Bocas del Toro islands. Only a couple of places around the world keep this particular atmosphere - seductive, layed-back, unforgettable!

Bastimentos Town

Only here you can experience the combination of the feeling of having traveled back in time, regarding the life of the locals in Bastimentos Island on the one hand, and on the other enjoy the variety of bars, restaurants and parties with travelers from all around the world on the main island, Isla Colon.

The islands are also known for their amazing natural beauty, the tropical vegetation and fauna are only found in this part of the world. There are several opportunities to go diving and snorkeling in the carrebian ocean. But it is not just the nature that makes this place so special- it is also the people, indigenous, western caribe people, latinos and foreigners, living side by side and with each other, setting an example for coexistence and multicultural respect for everyone!
If you want to go to the beach there are different ways. On the main island it is nice to rent bycicles and go to one of the beaches, the farest one, called Bocas del Drago, should take you around one and a half hours to get there. Don`t worry, there are beaches closer than that aswell! For the people that are not too excited about exercises, there are buses and taxis going all day long. To get to the beaches on the other islands around, Bocas offers daily tours, which usually start in the morning and end in the late afternoon. They include a trip to the Dolphine Bay, where it is guaranteed to see dolphines swimming around, lunch, snorkeling and a trip to one of the beaches.

To mention only one of them: the islas zapatillas. The names comes from the Spanish word for shoe, and that is because they are two small islands next to each other in the shape of a pair of shoes! They are part of the Bastimentos National Marine park, which also includes protected areas for the endangered manatee.

Cayos Zapatilla
After a perfect day on the beach and maybe an exquisite caribbean meal in one of the many waterfront restaurants on the main island, the perfect way to end the day is to enjoy the nightlife to the fullest!

From the famous Barco Hundido Bar (built over the water) to hanging out at the always fun Aqua Lounge (with  trampolines to jump into the water), there is always something to do in Bocas del Toro.  Another place you that don't want to miss is La Iguana Bar, where you can listen to the best music. Though if you're into a more out-of-control environment, Mondo Taitu and Toro Loco are for you.

By now you should have a pretty good impression of how to pass the time in the Bocas islands. To find out more, come and take a look yourself. Enjoy Bocas and have an unforgettable vacation!
